The Seed House. 

I have always had an interest in houses, building and design. I have a design background and a father who was a builder.  I often tagged along with him on school holidays, riding in the back of his ute to Lorne with the boys, just to be around him and on the building site. I'd usually help clean up the site and wash windows for some pocket money. 

 

Over the course of my life I have travelled a lot. As a result of that travel, I have rented in many very uncomfortable, poorly orientated places. So my interest in energy efficient housing grew and it's now my dream to build a small, energy efficient home that is comfortable to live in and doesn't cost the earth to run!

My partner Pete and I have recently begun (Feb 2022) the process of sub-diving a small block of land to build our own home. We hope to embody many sustainable, eco-friendly principles. We are also very interested in indoor air quality and the related health issues that can result. We will be considering many factors as we choose our building materials and soft furnishings as well.

I decided to write this blog to document the lead up and process of building our small home. By sharing our journey, we can connect and learn from each other.
